Marilyn Monroe sex tape a hoax
By EMILY GUENDELSBERGER guendee@phillynews.com

WHAT DO Marilyn Monroe, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears have in common? Of course, each woman was a point on the singer/actress continuum, each dyed her hair blond at point or another, and each was famous in her day for having a hot mess of a social life. But in more specific terms, all three have recently had media panting over false rumors that they had starred in sex tapes.
Lohan and Spears rumors are old news. But Monroe was back scandalizing a new generation from beyond the grave after New York collectibles dealer Keya Morgan came forward earlier this week with a wild story involving a 15-minute “French-type” silent reel, the FBI, Marilyn Monroe, a secret $1.5 million sale and the thwarted vengeance of J. Edgar Hoover.
The story as told by Morgan: The film, of a pre-fame Monroe performing oral sex on an unidentified man, was in the possession of the son of a former FBI informant who had worked under Hoover during the Kennedy administration. Hoover obtained the film in the ’60s, hoping that the unidentified man in the film was JFK and that it could be used against him. Morgan, who first heard of the film while digging through recently-made-public FBI documents, tracked down the informant’s son. The son was in possession of a bootleg copy of the film, which he claims is the only existing copy. Morgan then brokered a $1.5 million sale of the reel to an unidentified New York businessman, who Morgan says purchased it specifically so that it would never see the light of day and ruin Monroe’s legacy.
Thus Morgan, having secured Monroe’s good name out of the goodness of his heart… went and told the press the details of the French-type film, his part in brokering the deal and his upcoming documentary.
If you’ve noticed something fishy about this story, you’re not the only one. After big news outlets picked up the story, several blogs and Web sites stepped up to poke holes in what they see as a shameless self-promotion move to get press for Morgan’s unreleased documentary.
Web sites Defamer, the Smoking Gun and Radar are among several that questioned Morgan’s credibility, going so far as to track down and publish the FBI documents that Morgan claimed had led him to the film and to point out some large differences between what the documents say and what Morgan claims they say, including how the dying informant got the reel in the first place. Defamer, which led the pack in scrutinizing the claims, is now being threatened with legal action by Morgan.
So what with Morgan’s claims not lining up with the FBI’s paperwork and his refusal to disclose any of the names in his story other than his own or to produce proof of the film’s existence and Monroe experts far and near calling shenanigans, SatTatt feels pretty safe sticking Marilyn in the Venn diagram overlap of “Women who partied all night long” and “Women who nevertheless are not on film performing sexual acts.” May she, Lindsay and Britney party hard in there for a long time. *

Let me start by saying I like
Defamer and their site, and this should in no way be taken as a slam against them. After the
Marilyn Monroe sex tape story was released, they took it upon themselves to do a little debunking, and to try and establish that the tape sold for $1.5M was just a big hoax.
They invited three Marilyn Monroe experts who attempted to break down the hoax bit by bit. I’m not 100% sure if a Marilyn tape exists or not. One thing I am sure of though is that this debunking didn’t really debunk anything.
In a very lengthy article, the authors contempt and dislike for the broker of the sale is obvious and it seems to color everything they say. Just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean they don’t have the goods. Just ask David Hans Schmidt.
All their debunking does is ask more questions. It doesn’t provide any answers at all. It presents possible reasons why the tape might not be considered real, but again their only real reason is that they don’t like the broker, and all three writers are convinced they know everything that ever happened in Marilyn’s life and she would never do a sex tape.
Here are some of their arguments.
“You see instantly that it’s Marilyn Monroe - she has the famous mole.” This is a quote by Keya Morgan, which is one of the flimsiest pieces of evidence ever presented. Just because this alleged film has a person with a mole, it’s instantly Marilyn Monroe?
No, of course it isn’t instantly Marilyn Monroe, but if the tape does exist, and one thinks it might be Marilyn, then yes, the mole would be something one would expect to see.
Essentially Morgan is claiming that this is a bootleg copy of a classified FBI film. So if an original is classified, why would the FBI allow this public brouhaha in the press and not stop this sale from taking place? Why would this film copy not be destroyed?
Just because something is still considered classified and would not be released under FOIA rules doesn’t mean it really is still classified in the sense that someone will be killed if they saw it. The FBI would look pretty silly trying to rush out and stop the sale of a sex tape. Just because they haven’t released one, doesn’t mean they would stop the sale of one.
Keya Morgan claims to respect Joe DiMaggio (it is alleged that DiMaggio tried to pay the informant $25,000 for the film and the offer was refused), and Marilyn Monroe even greater. Then why would Mr. Morgan allow this sale considering his “respect” of DiMaggio and Monroe? If he was such a collector looking to protect Marilyn Monroe especially, why would he not keep this supposed film safely in his own collection?
Ummm. He needed money. And the guy he sold it to said he wasn’t going to release it.
Like I said, I am not convinced either way. You read the article, and you decide.

- I dunno, I really doubt the credibility of this guy, and I DID think the whole “Oh yeah I had a tape but I sold it so now no one will see it” sounds a little “off”. What, you couldnt find someone who’d pay 8 million and still keep it quiet, instead of a lousy 1.5?
Reminds me of a kid I knew in high school, who’d always claim he had really cool stuff so people would like him…but then if you asked to see any of it, it was always “Oh, I cant, its in my dad’s safety deposit box” or, “Oh I cant, I lent it to my brother in college and he wont return it til Christmas” and on and on and on until you stopped even trying. He was a douche.

- This tape story made me think of the story from February about the moron who was convinced he had found a photo of Marilyn hitchhiking naked on the side of the road with a cigarette in her mouth. He even got a Marilyn “expert” to verify that it was indeed Marilyn, and they were going to auction off the “rare” photo. Until the press told them it was a photo of Madonna. Duh.

| Marilyn Monroe sex tape is a hoax - report
Source: Tonight |

April 18, 2008
Reports of a sex tape featuring Marilyn Monroe are part of an elaborate publicity stunt, it has been claimed.
It was revealed earlier this month a New York businessman had purchased exclusive footage of the late actress performing oral sex on an unidentified man for $1,5-million (about R11,8-million), but was planning to “keep it locked up”.
However, Keya Morgan, the memorabilia collector who allegedly stumbled across the footage while researching his documentary on the Some Like It Hot actress, reportedly has a history of elaborating the truth to promote his own work.
In an article for US gossip website defamer.com, Monroe experts claim: “What Keya Morgan is promoting equates to questionable stories generated simply to sell another book or push another cheesy documentary.
“At the time of our conversation with him, we immediately discerned that he was one of them only out to exploit Marilyn Monroe and to come up with something new to fuel the rumour mill of her life.
“Keya Morgan’s time in the spotlight for this recent spin is nothing more than an opportunity for him to do just that - soak up some extra time in the limelight with his invented story about a fake flick, at the expense of the legacy of Marilyn Monroe.”
The writers also allege Morgan claims he has dated Mariah Carey and Renee Zellweger.
They added: “In general Mr Morgan was a name dropper, especially when it came to those notorious for supporting the conspiracy theories involved with the story of Marilyn Monroe. However, he wove into our conversation his claim that he dated Mariah Carey and Renee Zellweger.”
The article, entitled Debunking The Marilyn Monroe Sex Tape Hoax, was written by Mark Bellinghaus, a leading Marilyn Monroe expert, Ernest W Cunningham, the author of The Ultimate Marilyn and Jennifer J Dickinson, a journalist based in New Jersey. |
There seems to be a lot of mounting evidence (heh) that the alleged Marilyn Monroe sex tape — which sold this week to an unnamed businessman for $1.5-million — doesn’t actually exist.
The story behind the film, which shows Monroe performing oral sex on an anonymous man, is that memorabilia collector Keya Morgan discovered the tape’s existence while researching the star for an upcoming documentary.
The original belonged to an FBI informant who provided the bureau with a copy, which J. Edgar Hoover tried to use to prove that Monroe was involved with either John or Robert Kennedy.
However, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Keya Morgan is a bit of an opportunist who enjoys the spotlight himself. Namely that his documentary will push conspiracy theories about the star’s death, and even a bizarre name drop where he claimed to have dated both Mariah Carey and Renée Zellweger.
I’m not sure that I’d want to be connected to either of those two crazy broads, even if it meant I could be famous.
The most obvious hypocrisy is this, however:
Last month, he brokered its sale, leading the informant’s son to a wealthy New York businessman who wants to keep this unseemly part of Monroe’s past buried.
“He said he’s just going to lock it up,” Morgan said.
“He said, ‘I’m not going to make a Paris Hilton out of her. I’m not going to sell it, out of respect.’ “
Good intentions on the part of the buyer, which were totally ruined when Morgan told everyone about a sex tape that no one’s ever heard about. How is that respect?

Marilyn Monroe Sex Tape: Fact Or Fiction?
April 16th, 2008 | News, Question, USA Source: Roastfrog.net
“Yeah, Hollywood siren Marilyn Monroe made a sex tape. No, you’ll never get to see it.” These are not my words but those of a post in L.A. Now, a blog belonging to the the Los Angeles Times. The article is referring to recent rumours that have been doing the rounds online, according to which Monroe participated in a 16-minute-long home made porn flick when she was an unknown starlet. The man at the origin of this “scandal” is Keya Morgan, who just so happens to be producing a documentary about the blonde icon. He claims to have discovered a copy of the tape whilst doing some research. He then brokered a deal to sell it for $1.5 million to a wealthy New York businessman. Conveniently, the buyer remains unnamed and plans to never show it publicly out of “respect” for Marilyn. Sounds too crazy to be true, right? Wait– it gets better. Purportedly the video was deemed of sufficient importance for the FBI to acquire it in the 1960s, with then director J. Edgar Hoover toiling over the identity of her “co-star”. According to DHADM.com,
It is undetermined who the male [in the video] is, even after 9 FBI agents spent countless hours reviewing the film frame by frame. Some suggest that the male might have been John F. Kennedy, but I guess no one will ever know.
So, is Morgan’s story fact or fabrication? The fact that it has been relayed by several “trustworthy” news sources such as Reuters, CBS News or The Guardian certainly lends it some credibility. And journalists are supposed to check their facts, right? The problem is this whole thing smells like a massive PR stunt. Let’s not forget it all originated from a TV producer who is trying to hawk a documentary he just made, and stirring up some controversy seems like a pretty good way to do it. The blogosphere is alight with conspiracy theories and counter arguments. This morning the Defamer blog jumped into the mix with an “exclusive” article designed to shoot holes in Morgan’s story. It makes some valid points (why would the FBI not try to prevent the sale of a classified document? How do we know it’s not just a Marilyn lookalike?) but also makes the mistake of using flimsy statements to undermine him. Referring to phone calls made to Morgan, Defamer says:
Mr. Morgan was a name dropper– […] he wove into our conversation his claim that he dated Mariah Carey and Renée Zellweger.
I can understand the desire to pass him off as a liar, but this kind of schoolyard namecalling is really no better than the hearsay they are trying to decredibilize. None of this gets us any closer to the truth. But it’s interesting to see what’s going on. Given the lack of tangible evidence it’s just a war of words, and that’s what the media loves.

Alleged Marilyn Monroe footage probably fake

Marilyn Monroe, it seems, may or may not have been the original Paris Hilton as some claimed. This week, the New York Post reported that a private collector allegedly obtained a Marilyn Monroe sex tape for $1.5 million. Collector Keya Morgan claims the footage was shot in the 1950s, when FBI director J. Edgar Hoover was investigating Jack and Bobby Kennedy. A former FBI agent told him about a confidential informant who had possession of the 15-minute film, shot on 16mm. The G-men confiscated the film, but not before the informant made a copy. This copy is what Morgan bought. Joe DiMaggio tried to buy the film at one point for $25,000, but was unsuccessful. “You see instantly that it’s Marilyn Monroe — she has the famous mole,” Morgan said. However, Morgan said he has no plans to make a profit from the alleged sex tape. Monroe was promiscuous in her day, and sex tapes were hardly unknown in the 1950s — though not as ubiquitous as they are now. Only $1.5 million for a Marilyn Monroe sex tape seems a little low for something so potentially scandalous. According to the gossip blog Defamer, the sex tape isn’t real. In fact, there is no sex tape. The blog claims the whole story is an elaborate hoax to drum up interest in Morgan’s planned Monroe documentary. This alleged sex tape story has never seemed believable to me. After all, if the footage is a classified FBI document, how could Morgan get ahold of it without breaking the law? But, who knows. See my blog, “Pop Goes …” for more details on this story.

Marilyn Monroe sex tape may be just a publicity stunt
April 18th 2008 03:51
It was reported worldwide earlier this month that a sex tape featuring Marilyn Monroe had been sold to a private buyer, but now Monroe experts are claiming that it was nothing but an elaborate publicity stunt. Keya Morgan, the memorabilia collector who allegedly found the scandalous tape while researching for a new documentary on the actress, is renowned for being fame-seeking and has a history of elaborating the truth to promote his own work.
Sex tape probably doesn’t exist

According to Morgan, the sex tape was a 15-minute black-and-white film of Monroe performing oral sex on an unidentified male, and the New York businessman who bought it was keeping it under wraps “to protect Monroe’s privacy”. Ironic, isn’t it? What Morgan has successfully done is place a blight on Monroe’s legacy, and understandably, this has Monroe experts fuming.

CELEBRITY SPOTLIGHT - Reports of a sex tape featuring Marilyn Monroe are part of an elaborate publicity stunt, it has been claimed.
It was revealed earlier this month a New York businessman had purchased excl
usive footage of the late actress performing oral sex on an unidentified man for $1.5million, but was planning to “keep it locked up”.
However, Keya Morgan, the memorabilia collector who allegedly stumbled across the footage while researching his documentary on the ‘Some Like It Hot’ actress, reportedly has a history of elaborating the truth to promote his own work.
“Keya Morgan’s time in the spotlight for this recent spin is nothing more than an opportunity for him to do just that
- soak up some extra time in the limelight with his invented story about a fake flick, at the expense of the legacy of Marilyn Monroe.”
The writers also allege Morgan claims he has dated Mariah Carey and Renee Zellweger.
They added: “In general Mr. Morgan was a name dropper, especially when it came to those notorious for supporting the conspiracy theories involved with the story of Marilyn Monroe. However, he wove into our conversation his claim that he dated Mariah Carey and Renee Zellweger.”
The article, entitled ‘Debunking the Marilyn Monroe sex tape hoax’, was written by Mark Bellinghaus, a leading Marilyn Monroe expert, Ernest W. Cunningham, the author of ‘The Ultimate Marilyn’ and Jennifer J. Dickinson, a journalist based in New Jersey.

According to leading Marilyn Monroe expert Mark Bellinghaus, the 16 mm film footage of the star engaging in oral sex with an unidentified man is a hoax.
New York City based memorabilia collector Keya Morgan made headlines last week when he announced he sold the 15 minute tape to a wealthy New York businessman for $1.5 million dollars. The man said he would keep the tape from public view out of respect for the screen siren.
“You can see instantly that it’s Marilyn Monroe; she has the famous mole. She’s smiling, she’s very charming, she’s very radiant, but she’s known for being radiant,” Morgan said, as quoted on Defamer.com’s post “Exclusive: Debunking The Marilyn Monroe ‘Sex Tape’ Hoax.”
But Bellinghaus said after talking to Morgan on the phone for several hours, he has concluded that there are too many holes in the collector’s story. He went on to describe Morgan as a “press hungry namedropper whose main objective is to promote himself and the Monroe documentary that he is working on.”
“What Keya Morgan is promoting equates to questionable stories generated simply to sell another book or push another cheesy documentary,” Bellinghaus told Defamer. “At the time of our conversation with him, we immediately discerned that he was one of them only out to exploit Marilyn Monroe and to come up with something new to fuel the rumour mill of her life.”

The sex-tape which is featuring Marilyn Monroe is a hoax, says a leading Monroe expert.
The New York City based memorabilia collector, Keya Morgan has spawned a rumor of 16 mm film footage said to be Marilyn Monroe engaging in oral sex with an unknown male participant in the early 1950’s when she was just a starlet.
According to Morgan, he brokered the sale of this claimed 15-minute lasting reel to a New York businessman earlier this month for a whopping US 1.5 million dollars.
“You can see instantly that it’s Marilyn Monroe, she has the famous mole. She’s smiling, she’s very charming, she’s very radiant, but she’s known for being radiant,” Defamer.com quoted Morgan, as saying.
The happy buyer of this supposed film chooses to remain anonymous but says he has no plans to market the tape.
Morgan states: “He’s just going to lock it up.”
According to Mark Bellinghaus, the leading Marilyn Monroe expert, there are too many holes in the Keya Morgan story.
Bellinghaus came to the conclusion after talking to Morgan over the phone.
“What Keya Morgan is promoting equates to questionable stories generated simply to sell another book or push another cheesy documentary. Just looking at Mr. Morgan’s cast list is enough to know that this is more of the same conspiracy rehash,” he said.
“At the time of our conversation with him, we immediately discerned that he was one of them only out to exploit Marilyn Monroe and to come up with something new to fuel the rumor mill of her life,” he added.(ANI) |

Two Marilyn Monroe experts on the popular celebrity blog Defamer.com are calling into question the claim of a memorabilia dealer who told the New York Post earlier this week that he brokered a deal of a rare Monroe sex film.
Mark Bellinghaus and Ernest W. Cunningham (along with freelance writer Jennifer J. Dickinson) had harsh words for the dealer, Keya Morgan, who told the Post of the purported $1.5 million sale of a rare bootleg copy film from the 1950s to an undisclosed New York businessman — a copy of film still-classified by the FBI.
In the film, Morgan claims that it’s Monroe performing a sex act on an unidentified male.

In the film, Morgan claims that it’s Monroe performing a sex act on an unidentified male.
Bellinghaus and Cunningham first noted that Monroe testified in court in 1952 to protect her reputation from accusations that she was part of a mail order pornography ring was selling pictures of her — and that she and her attorney debunked those claims. As a result, they said, the two men who created the scam were convicted of a misdemeanor conviction.
The experts go on to call the current revelation, 56 years later, “a fabricated pornographic claim.” They criticized Morgan for not disclosing the names of the seller or buyer of the film, and saying “he has not been able to provide evidence that this alleged sale even occurred.”
The experts — who said they interviewed the dealer in 2007 — accuse Morgan of being “a namedropper, especially when it came to those notorious for supporting the conspiracy theories involved with the story of Marilyn Monroe.”
“At the time of our conversation with him, we immediately discerned that he was one of them only out to exploit Marilyn Monroe and to come up with something new to fuel the rumor mill of her life,” Bellinghaus and Cunningham wrote on Defamer.
The article points out different examples of debunked Monroe nude photo and film claims in the past, and accuses Morgan of glomming onto the actress’ conspiracy movement and using it for personal promotion.
“The most recent sensationalism of this supposedly existing film footage generated by Mr. Morgan, ties in with the usual opportunistic conspiracy theories that are out there,” the experts said on Defamer. “What Keya Morgan is promoting equates to questionable stories generated simply to sell another book or push another cheesy documentary.”
In the Defamer piece, Bellinghaus and Cunningham questioned among other things why, if the film was still classified by the FBI, wouldn’t the FBI stop the sale and destroy the copy of the film. They also criticized Morgan’s claim that the person in the purported film is Monroe because it shows the “famous mole.”
The experts queried, “Just because this alleged film has a person with a mole, it’s instantly Marilyn Monroe?”
Bellinghaus and Cunningham also pointed out Morgan’s claim to them that he had dated singer Mariah Carey and actress Renee Zellweger.

In a fascinating piece, snarky gossip website Defamer.com gets serious to challenge the notion of a Marilyn Monroe sex tape.
By FilmStew Staff, FilmStew.com
Isn’t it convenient that the story broken by the New York Post and spun ad nauseum by other outlets cannot in any way be proven? That is to say, the originator of the news that a copy of a Marilyn Monroe sex tape supposedly confiscated by the FBI exists, Keya Morgan, no longer has said tape in his possession. And, because he claims that the anonymous collector who paid $1.5 million for it plans to never let it be seen, the lack of any further confirmation plays out as part of the story.
Defamer.com thought this all sounded a little fishy so, with a little help from blonde bombshell experts Mark Bellinghaus, Ernest W. Cunningham and Jennifer J. Dickinson, they put boo and boo together. Though they cannot, by nature of the story itself, definitively prove that Morgan is lying, they raise a number of intriguing circumstantial doubts.
But really, what Defamer or some other organization needs to do is demand that Morgan show proof of a recent $1.5 million deposit into his bank account, preferably confirmed by an impartial third party. This is anything but chump change, especially for a little known TV documentary filmmaker, and if Morgan can show cause, he will go a long way towards K-Oing the doubters. (Then of course, it will become a matter of whether this guy knows anyone who could float him a two-comma loan.)
Perhaps most hilariously, Defamer reports that when it independently spoke with Morgan via telephone back in the summer of 2007 about his in-the-works Marilyn movie, he claimed that he had dated both Mariah Carey and Renee Zellweger. Surely, either one of those actors’ reps, or the actors themselves, can be contacted to confirm or deny these boastful claims. Then again, if this turns out in any way to be true, maybe it’s as good as $1.5 million in the bank.

Yesterday, news broke that an ancient sex tape allegedly showing Marilyn Monroe giving a blowjoy to an unidentified male had not only surfaced, but had also been sold to an anonymous New York collector for $1.5 million. The NY Post’s Hasani Gittens broke the story after interviewing Keya Morgan, a memorabilia collector who claims to have brokered the sale of the 15 minute reel. However, what the Post failed to mention in their story is that Morgan is well-known within the tight-knit circle of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia collectors for being a sycophantic, press hungry namedropper (check out his likely self-penned IMDB bio) whose main objective is to promote himself and the Monroe documentary that he is working on. Not only has he been known to casually claim that he has dated both Mariah Carey and Renee Zellweger, he has thus far refused to disclose either the names of either the seller or buyer of the tape; additionally, he has not been able to provide evidence that this alleged sale even occurred. To that end, Defamer worked with a trio of Marilyn Monroe experts in an effort to get to the bottom of Keya Morgan’s outrageous claims. The team of Mark Bellinghaus (one of the foremost Marilyn Monroe experts/collectors in the world), Ernest W. Cunningham (author of Read More…
